Engagement so far
Listening to the community
Since December 2024, Oaklands College and Taylor Wimpey have carried out two phases of public consultation to inform the joint planning application.
Following our initial round of engagement in winter 2024/25, we returned in April 2025 with updated proposals that reflected what we had heard. In between these two formal rounds of engagement, we also held a number of meetings with the project team, and various community and political stakeholders, which have included local residents’ association, councillors, and the local ramblers association.
Since launching the consultation in December 2024, we’ve heard from hundreds of local people and groups.
Headline statistics:
- 2 rounds of public consultation
- 9 stakeholder meetings
- 471 formal survey responses
- 544 total engagement responses (including interactive map and boards)
- 32 conversations at our lambing weekend pop-up
- 149 visitors to consultation events
- 2,628 website visits

Engagement so far
First engagement phase
In December 2024, the first engagement period launched which lasted just over six weeks. We informed the community about the plans for the College, indicated that plans would be coming forward from Taylor Wimpey in line with the local plan and collected feedback from the community.

Second engagement phase
An in-person consultation event was held on Tuesday 23 April 2025 at Oaklands College. Local residents, community groups and stakeholders were invited to view the updated plans, speak with the project team, and share their views. Feedback from this event has helped to shape the final proposals.
In addition to the event, residents could once again provide feedback via an online survey, interactive map, and email.
